Humanoid robots have become a hot topic as companies imagine these highly engineered bipeds displacing actual paycheck-earning humans in certain capacities.

But both Cendek and a report by McKinsey and Company issued last fall caution these devices have a long way to go before they’re ready to take on tasks such as building vehicles where safety and performance in the end products are critical.
